In 2012, I embarked on a journey into the world of graphic design, taking a short course that introduced me to the wonders of Photoshop and digital photography. As time went by, I became self-taught, expanding my knowledge. My first steps into the design market was creating book covers using photo manipulation techniques.
Over time, I delved into the art of vector graphics, opening new paths for cover design. In early 2022, I made the deliberate choice to shift my focus to drawing and I'm proud of the illustrations I've done for authors from covers to character design. Currently my focus is fantasy maps and illustrations for chapters and it has been a very rewarding experience for me.

Kim Sponaugle brings with her almost two decades of freelance children's book illustration experience. A graduate of The Art Institute of Philadelphia, she began working for David C. Cook Publishing designing children's curriculum and products but soon found her heart's vocation in children's illustration.
Starting Picture Kitchen Studio in 2007, Kim has created close to 150 picture and chapter books for kids. Working with both traditional publishers and independent clients, Kim has enjoyed illustrating award-winning children's books and middle-grade books that kids continue to enjoy.

(Includes: * One full-color cover with title and byline design and back cover image.
* Title (full color) page spot image, copyright (FC) spot image, dedication page (FC) spot image.
* Interior pencil layout spreads designed to include sketches and the text (the map).
* Full-color interior illustrations as spots (1/4 page), half pages, full pages, and spreads that will create a flow to the storytelling.
* (2) rounds of revisions at the layout stage, with video chat or phone chat to review together.
* Full-color finished art based on the approved layout spreads in whatever format is needed for your self-publishing program. This will travel with the approved pencil layouts (the map) as a guide.
* View proofs before the books are published to check for consistency of color, text position, etc.

I am an illustrator from Indonesia who has been working as an artist for more than 10 years. I do a lot of illustrations for covers of various genres, from Fantasy to Sci-fi and sometimes even non-fiction books, from middle-grade to adult audience. In addition, I also make maps, chapter art, character designs and all kinds of things related to illustration.
I have a wife and a daughter who support me all the time. In my spare time I play video games and sometimes I get new inspiration from there beside traveling outdoors. I love to learn new cultures from various places as well.
